A note on chicory: Chicory is the root of endive plants, or commercially grown chicory plants. Roasting chicory roots dates back centuries and across many cultures, with historical evidence showing the Roman poet Horace wrote about chicory as early as 56 BC. Hungry soldiers in the French Revolution and the American Civil War roasted chicory as a coffee substitute. French immigrants brought roasted chicory to New Orleans, where it remains a signature flavor today. Rusty Dog is proud to offer this time-honored blend to our customers.
