BT Wedge Espresso Preparation Distribution Tool
Good espresso is a practiced craft, and the tools in a barista's hand should reflect that care. The BT Wedge was developed with Il Seon Jeon to bring his wedge-shaped distribution design together with our approach to materials and craftsmanship.
Precision-machined stainless steel forms a base designed to spread ground coffee through the basket without prematurely compressing it. A high-polish surface helps reduce coffee sticking to the tool, while the hardwood versions bring the natural grain of a wood inlay to the finished piece.
Find your setting
Adjust the depth to suit your preparation, then use the included Bachmann Accu Drive markings to reference the setting. Choose a 53.3 mm or 58.3 mm base to suit your basket.
Materials with character
Choose Walnut, Cherry, Hard Maple or True Black Walnut for the hardwood inlay, or Matte Stainless Steel for an all-metal finish. The materials give the same wedge design a different expression.
Natural variations in tone and grain make each timber piece unique. They are part of the material's character, not something to design away.

From Seoul to Saint Anthony
The wedge began with Il Seon Jeon of Gabae Mihon coffee bar in Seoul. He wanted to spread grounds with less premature compression and less coffee left on the tool.
After developing and refining prototypes, he brought the design to Saint Anthony Industries. We brought our materials and design aesthetic to the collaboration, and the BT Wedge took shape.
