Why Buy Pre-Ground Espresso Coffee
To achieve that rich espresso flavor from ground espresso coffee, the brewing process is slightly different than a regular cup of coffee. There are two factors that come into play with the brew: the time brewed and the size of the bean grinds.
First, an espresso shot is brewed a lot faster than a regular cup of coffee. An espresso shot takes about 25 seconds to pull, while a regular brew can be anywhere from 1 to 4 minutes. Because the espresso grounds are in contact with the water for a shorter extraction process, it actually pulls out less of the caffeine, so most espresso is lower in caffeine than a regular cup of coffee.
More important than the time is the grind size. Ground espresso coffee tends to be very fine. This allows the water to quickly extract the rich coffee flavor, even with a much shorter brew time. You have to be really careful about the grind size you use. If the ground is too coarse, the shot could brew too quickly and burn. If it’s too fine, it could brew too slowly and clog the filter.
At Eldorado, we use a specialty grinder to ensure your grinds are the ideal coarseness for a fast, strong, and delicious espresso pull. Try our pre-ground espresso coffee and taste the difference!
